8.4. Main cylinder of brakes


Details of the main cylinder of brakes of cars

1. Disconnect a wire from the liquid level indicator in a nutritious tank.
2. Turn off and disconnect from the cylinder of the union of tubes of a hydraulic actuator of brakes, holding tubes an alligator wrench. Do not allow hit of liquid on a body.
3. Turn off bolts and remove the cylinder, having displaced it forward.
4. Installation is carried out upside-down. Tighten bolts of fastening of the cylinder to the vacuum amplifier with 8–14 N.' moment of m, the union of tubes – with m 7–13 N.' moment.
5. Remove air from a hydraulic actuator.

Dismantling (all cars)

1. Merge liquid from a nutritious tank.
2. Remove a dustproof cover (if it is provided).
3. Turn off a bolt of fastening of a tank, remove a tank and a sealant.
4. Clamp the cylinder in a vice with soft sponges and turn out the limiters of pressure of brakes (dosing valves) if are provided by a design.
5. Press the first piston into the cylinder and turn off a restrictive bolt of the second cylinder, remove laying. Without weakening effort, get a lock ring.


Not to remove a spring from the piston.

6. Get pistons from the cylinder.
7. Wash out all details pure brake fluid and dry compressed air.
8. Measure the internal diameter of the cylinder which has to be 22,22 mm (except the Amigo/MU/Jazz cars). For Amigo/MU/Jazz with the engine of 2,3 l the internal diameter of the cylinder has to be 23,85 mm, and with the engine of 2,6 l – 25,50 mm. If diameter differs from norm, then assembled replace the cylinder. Diameter is measured in three places (And, In and C). (1 – nutromer)
9. Measure diameters of pistons. Define a gap between the piston and the cylinder as a difference of diameters of the cylinder and piston. The normal gap has to be within 0,025–0,127 mm, limit – 0,15 mm. If the gap exceeds norm, then assembled replace the cylinder.
10. Check a condition of an internal surface of the cylinder, existence on it of a rust or mechanical damages. Check a condition of a surface of pistons. At detection of any signs of wear replace pistons.
11. Check purity of channels of the cylinder, clean them a thin wire and blow compressed air.
12. Check a condition of a nutritious tank, existence on it of cracks and dents, and also a condition of sealants. Check a condition of cuffs and lock rings, if necessary replace.


1. Attentively examine cylinder details, remove foreign debris and grease with pure brake fluid. Oil the internal surface of the cylinder pure rubber.
2. Install pistons assembled with springs. Press the piston into the cylinder and establish a lock ring. At assembly do not damage pistons.
3. Press on the piston and wrap a bolt with laying by hand. Tighten a bolt with m 7–9 N.' moment.
4. Wrap the dosing valves (if are provided), tighten with the moment 35 N. of m.
5. Install a tank, a sealant and wrap the screw.
6. Establish a dustproof cover (if it is provided).
7. Press several times the piston, be convinced of smoothness of a piston stroke. When pressing from openings in the cylinder brake fluid has to be forced out.
8. Fill in liquid in a nutritious tank and remove air from the cylinder.
9. Tighten nuts of fastening of the cylinder with m 15 N.' moment. Remove air from a hydraulic actuator.
