GENERAL INFORMATION

THE STREAM SPEED SENSOR (ALL ENGINES, EXCEPT 6-CYLINDER)

The sensor is mounted on the case of the air filter. It is intended for measurement of a volume consumption of the air given to cylinders.

RESERVE CONTROL SYSTEM (ALL ENGINES, EXCEPT 6-CYLINDER)

It is intended for preservation of some functions of the control unit in case of its malfunction and maintenance of the car on the run.

THE SENSOR OF TEMPERATURE OF COOLING LIQUID (ALL ENGINES, EXCEPT 6-CYLINDER)

The sensor is screwed in the block of cylinders under the soaking-up collector. The signal from the sensor is used for calculation of the required composition of mix.

SENSOR OF TEMPERATURE OF COOLING LIQUID (6-CYLINDER ENGINES)

The sensor represents the thermoresistor. At low temperatures of cooling liquid (-40 °C) resistance of the sensor makes 100 KOhm, and at a temperature of 130 °C – 70 Ohms.

The ESM-module gives on the sensor a signal 5B and measures tension from the sensor. Temperature of cooling liquid is determined by a difference of tension. The obtained information is used for control of the air valve, system of recirculation, etc. If the sensor is faulty, then in memory of the ESM-module the code 14 or 15 registers.

THE SENSOR OF THE ANGLE OF ROTATION OF THE BENT SHAFT (ALL ENGINES, EXCEPT 6-CYLINDER)

The sensor is usually mounted in the distributor of ignition and intended for registration of speed of rotation of the engine and relative position of each piston in the cylinder. On the basis of these parameters the ECU block counts an ignition advancing corner.

SENSORS OF THE ANGLE OF ROTATION OF THE BENT SHAFT AND CAMSHAFT (6-CYLINDER ENGINES)

These sensors are mounted on the block of cylinders near a bent shaft and the camshaft. The signal from these sensors arrives via the module of "system of direct ignition" (DIS system) on the ESM-module. This signal is used as reperny for determination of speed of rotation of the engine and the provision of a bent shaft. In engines with such system the sensor on Hall's effect is used. On a conclusion of the sensor tension when passing a disk with a crack is directed. The size of this tension is unambiguously connected with engine speed. This communication is used for definition of turns in the ignition module. The module of ignition interrupts or closes primary chain of the coil of ignition. On the basis of the signal received from Hall's sensor the module of ignition interrupts or closes primary chain of the coil of ignition.

THE PROCESSOR ECU BLOCK (ALL ENGINES, EXCEPT 6-CYLINDER)

The block is mounted under the dashboard. Provides management of systems of ignition and injection. The system of diagnostics, the reserve scheme of management and the control system of refusals are built in the block.

BLOCK OF ELECTRONIC CONTROL MOMENT OF IGNITION (EST BLOCK) OF 6-CYLINDER ENGINES

This block is installed on 6-cylinder engines of all modifications. Instead of centrifugal and vacuum regulators the 7-contact distributor on which the additional 4-contact socket is installed is used. On the ECM module the reperny impulse of speed of rotation of the engine and an angle of rotation of a bent shaft moves. ECM defines an ignition advancing corner for these operating conditions of the engine and gives an impulse of installation of the moment of ignition on the distributor. The moment of installation of ignition changes on the basis of the signals which are read out from various sensors. The reserve scheme of installation of the moment of ignition on a case of failure of the module is built in the ECM module.

CONTROL SYSTEM OF SPARKING (ESC-SYSTEM) OF 6-CYLINDER ENGINES

It is intended for reduction of a corner of an advancing of ignition in the conditions of a detonation. Works together with the detonation sensor.

THE SENSOR OF ABSOLUTE PRESSURE IN THE SOAKING-UP COLLECTOR (MAR-DATCHIK) ON 6-CYLINDER ENGINES

The MAR-sensor measures pressure in the soaking-up collector which changes depending on loading and turns of the engine. The measured pressure is equal to a difference of atmospheric pressure and pressure in a collector. When the gate is almost completely covered, pressure in a collector low (25–35 kPa), at completely open gate the measured pressure increases (to 100 kPa). Sensor resistance and consequently and the removed stress, depends on pressure. Tracing tension on the sensor, the ESM module operates amount of injectable fuel and the moment of ignition.

At failure of the sensor in memory the code 33 or 34 registers.

THE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR IN THE SOAKING-UP COLLECTOR (MAT-SENSOR) OF 6-CYLINDER ENGINES

The MAT sensor is mounted on the soaking-up collector and represents the thermoresistor. At the low air temperature (-40 °C) resistance of the sensor makes 100 KOhm, and at a temperature of 130 °C – 70 Ohms.

The ESM-module gives on the sensor a signal 5B and measures tension from the sensor. Air temperature in the soaking-up collector is determined by a difference of tension. The obtained information is used for management of amount of injectable fuel and the ignition moment. If the sensor is faulty, then in memory the code 23 or 25 registers.

RELAY PRESSURE OF OIL 6-CYLINDER OF ENGINES

The relay (the contact sensor of pressure) is mounted on the block of cylinders under the soaking-up collector. On some cars of the relay of pressure of oil joins in parallel with the relay of the fuel pump and includes (switches-off) the pump when pressure of oil increases (goes down) to 28 kPa.

SENSOR OF OXYGEN OF ALL 4-CYLINDER ENGINES

It is screwed in a final collector. It is intended for measurement of content of oxygen in exhaust gases.

SENSOR OF OXYGEN 6-CYLINDER OF ENGINES

The sensor is mounted in an exhaust pipe. The oxygen which is contained in exhaust gases reacts with the surface of the sensor. If the mix which is grown poor, then a signal from the sensor makes 100 mV, at the enriched mix – to 900 mV. In response to a signal from the oxygen sensor the control unit automatically supports composition of gas mixture close to stoichiometric. At a gap in the sensor of oxygen the code 13 registers. If tension in a sensor chain low also does not change, then the code 44 registers. At the invariable increased tension the code 45 registers. Codes 44 and 45 register in memory at refusals of fuel system.

THE PARK/NEUTRAL SWITCH ON 6-CYLINDER ENGINES

The switch indicates to the control unit that transmission is in provisions P or N. At the same time the operating signals on the hydrotransformer coupling, system of recirculation are given, and also idling turns are regulated.


Prevention

Driving at the disconnected Park/Neutral switch is forbidden, otherwise adjustment of quality of mix idling is broken, and in memory the code 24 which indicates malfunction of the sensor of speed of the car (VSS-of the sensor) will be written down.


RELAY OF PRESSURE OF THE HYDRAULIC BOOSTER (6-CYLINDER ENGINES)

It is intended for giving of a signal on the control unit at increase in pressure in a wheel hydraulic actuator contour (turning on of the pump of the hydraulic booster, turn of a wheel) in response to which idling turns raise.

SENSOR OF THE ANGLE OF ROTATION OF THE BUTTERFLY VALVE (TPS-SENSOR)

This sensor is provided only on 4-cylinder engines with a turbo-supercharging and on 6-cylinder engines.

SENSOR OF THE ANGLE OF ROTATION OF THE BUTTERFLY VALVE (TPS-SENSOR) (6-CYLINDER ENGINES)

The sensor is mounted on an axis of a butterfly valve, tension from the sensor changes under the influence of the gate drive. When the gate is completely closed, tension from the sensor low (about 0,5 In), and at completely open gate tension is close to maximum (about 5 V). At completely closed gate tension on the sensor should not exceed 1,25 Century. On the basis of tension from the sensor of a butterfly valve the control unit counts amount of the fuel injected into the engine which corresponds to pressing an accelerator pedal. Violation of the correct situation, short circuit, weakening of fastening or break belong to characteristic malfunctions of the sensor. At violation of position of the sensor the engine unstably idles, traction qualities worsen. The break of the sensor is regarded by the control unit as full cover of the gate, as a result the engine works with interruptions on all modes, and in memory the code 22 registers. At short circuit (this state corresponds to completely open gate) in memory the code 21 registers. When weakening fastening of the sensor the fuel injection order is broken, the engine idles with interruptions. On some modifications of engines the specified malfunctions are eliminated with adjustment of the sensor.

SWITCH OF THE BUTTERFLY VALVE (4-CYLINDER ENGINES)

The switch of a butterfly valve is intended for definition of the mode of idling, partial and full opening of the gate.

VACUUM DISTRIBUTOR (4-CYLINDER ENGINES)

The vacuum distributor is operated the signal arriving from the processor block and controls fuel pressure according to depression in the soaking-up collector.

SENSOR OF SPEED OF THE CAR (VSS-SENSOR)

On cars with 4-cylinder engines the VSS sensor is built in a speedometer. From this sensor impulses on the control unit move.

On cars with 6-cylinder engines the VSS sensor is mounted either on a speedometer, or in a transmission case on a speedometer reducer.

On parts of the cars equipped with digital devices, a signal of speed it is formed by a permanent magnet which is mounted on a transmission shaft. The signal from the magnetic sensor operates the step engine which in turn rotates a drum of the counter of the passable way. At failure of the sensor in memory the code 24 registers.
