3.2.2.5. Yokes and rollers of yokes

GENERAL INFORMATION

4-CYLINDER SINGLE-SHAFT PETROL ENGINES

Details of the gas-distributing mechanism on all 4-cylinder petrol engines

1 – nut of fastening of a cover of the roller of yokes

2 – springs of yokes

3 – roller of yokes

4 – valve yoke

5 – roller cover

Gas-distributing mechanism

1 – gas-distributing mechanism of 4-cylinder petrol engines

2 – spring

3 – orientation tags on a yoke

4 – the roller with a bigger length

5 – roller cover

6 – orientation tags of the roller of yokes

7 – camshaft

8 – installation of the roller of yokes on 4-cylinder petrol engines

9 – sequence of an inhaling of bolts and nuts of covers of rollers

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight. Uncover the gas distribution mechanism.
2. Weaken an inhaling of nuts of fastening of covers of rollers of yokes. Turn off nuts gradually, since extreme covers.
3. Turn off nuts of covers of rollers of yokes. Remove rollers assembled with yokes.
4. Remove from rollers of a spring, yoke and cover. Spread out details so that at assembly to establish them on former places.
5. Before assembly grease rollers, yokes and cores of valves with pure oil for the engine.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Orient rollers. The long roller has to be from final valves, and the short roller – from inlet. Adjusting tags on rollers have to be turned towards a forward part of the engine.
2. Collect rollers with yokes and covers. Orient covers so that number of the cylinder which is beaten out in the top part of covers was turned towards a forward part of the engine.
3. Combine a tag on a cover of a yoke of the 1st cylinder with the tag on the roller of yokes put from inlet or final valves.
4. Combine openings under hairpins in the roller of yokes with the corresponding openings in covers of rollers. Make sure that the size of a ledge of the roller of final valves concerning a cover is more than the roller of inlet valves.
5. Establish springs of yokes between the roller and a yoke.
6. Make sure that orientation tags on the roller (kerneniye) are turned up, install the roller assembled with yokes on hairpins of a head of cylinders. Combine a tag on the camshaft with a tag on a cover of the roller of the 1st cylinder.
7. Tighten nuts of fastening of covers of rollers with m 21 N.'s moment, and bolts – with m 8 N.' moment.
Prevention

When tightening nuts hold springs of yokes, otherwise breakage of springs is possible. Begin an inhaling with the central nut, being displaced to the periphery.

8. Adjust gaps in valves (see subsection 3.1.5). Establish a cover, having replaced laying and a sealant. Check installation of the moment of ignition.

DIESEL ENGINES

The sequence of weakening of fastening of covers of yokes on diesel engines

5. Check a roller beating by means of prisms and the arrow indicator. The roller beating in the central part should not exceed 0,4 mm, otherwise replace the roller. At the new roller the beating should not exceed 0,2 mm.
6. Check a condition of the roller, at detection of strong indications of wear replace the roller.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Before assembly grease rollers, yokes and cores of valves with pure oil for the engine. Install the roller with a bigger length from final valves. Orientation tags on rollers have to be turned towards a forward part of the engine.
2. Tighten nuts of fastening of covers of rollers with m 20–27 N.' moment. When tightening nuts hold springs of yokes a key, otherwise breakage of springs is possible. Begin an inhaling with the central nuts, being displaced to the periphery. Tighten nuts gradually increasing efforts.
3. Adjust gaps in valves. Establish a cover, start the engine and check existence of leaks.

V6 ENGINES

Details of the gas-distributing mechanism in 6-cylinder engines

1 – nuts

2 – yokes

3 – spherical pro-rates

4 – bars of pushers

5 – pushers

Removal and installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight.
2. Uncover the gas distribution mechanism.
3. Turn off nuts, remove spherical pro-rates, yokes and get bars of pushers. Spread out details so that at assembly to establish them on former places.
Prevention

Bars of pushers of final and inlet valves have different length.

4. Establish bars of pushers on former places. Make sure that the lower end face of a bar came into a pusher.
5. Grease the rubbing surfaces of yokes and spherical pro-rates with molybdenic lubricant like Molykote or equivalent.
6. Wrap nuts of yokes and tighten them with m 20–27 N.' moment.
7. Adjust gaps in valves (see подразедл 3.1.5).
