In the spare part radical bearings of the repair sizes 0,025, 0,05, 0,20, 0,25, 0,50 and 0,75 of mm are delivered. At installation of new bearings it is necessary to check gaps by means of a plastic calibration wire. Replacement of radical bearings and check of gaps without dismantle of the engine from the car is allowed.

Persistent half ring



1. Remove the engine from the car. Install on the stand or on a workbench. Turn the block of cylinders.
2. Remove the pump of cooling liquid and a forward cover.
3. Remove a chain (if it is provided) and drive asterisks.
4. Remove the oil pallet.
5. If necessary remove the oil pump.
6. Apply numbers of the corresponding cylinders on inflows under bolts of covers of rods. Mark covers of rods that at assembly to establish on former places.
7. Uncover rods, dress pieces of a rubber hose on bolts.
8. Nakernite of a tag on covers of radical bearings not to mix at assembly.
9. Uncover radical bearings.
10. Put to risk opposite to a spline of a bent shaft.
11. Fix rods by the rubber rings hooked for the bolts screwed in openings of fastening of the oil pallet.
12. Together with the assistant carefully get a bent shaft from the block of cylinders. In process of removal of a bent shaft rods will deviate to the center of the engine.

Radical bearings demountable, consist of two inserts. Check of a state consists in external survey and check of gaps. If the gap in bearings exceeds norm, then they should be replaced.


The manufacturer in the spare part delivers bent shafts with repair necks on which figure "9" or marking of light green color is applied. Covers of radical bearings of repair bent shafts are also supplied with color marking.

As a rule the lower inserts are exposed to the greatest wear (except for the 1st bearing). Therefore if the lower inserts are in satisfactory condition (there are no deep furrows or a vykrashivaniye of metal), then it is possible to draw a conclusion that the top inserts too in satisfactory condition and vice versa, at detection of signs of strong damages on the lower inserts both inserts are subject to replacement. Both inserts change at the same time.

Check of gaps in radical bearings

If the gap is checked without removal of the engine, then the bent shaft has to have two support (from a pulley and transmission). In this case the gap is measured in the top inserts. On the removed engine the gap is measured in the lower inserts.


It is forbidden to correct a gap in radical bearings by a podpilivaniye of speakers of edges of inserts or the demountable planes of covers and the block of cylinders.

1. Establish a bent shaft (if the bent shaft was removed, the engine is removed from the car). If gaps are checked without removal of the engine, then remove the oil pallet and the oil pump. At first the gap in the back radical bearing is checked. Uncover the bearing and wipe from oil.
2. Lay a strip of a calibration wire on a neck at all length of the bearing parallel to an axis of a bent shaft.

The calibration plastic wire is dissolved in oil therefore in order to avoid false results the interfaced details should be cleared of oil carefully.

3. Establish a cover and tighten bolts with the set moment.
4. Uncover the bearing and determine a gap by width of the crushed wire (which stuck to a neck).
5. If width of the crushed wire is non-uniform, then it indicates conicity or uneven wear of a neck and an insert. In this case the neck should be measured by a micrometer.
6. If a gap within norm, then an insert in the normal state. It is necessary to replace inserts only in case the gap exceeds standard.
7. The gap will be reduced to standard if to establish inserts of the standard size 1 (0,025 mm) and the 2nd (0,05 mm) dimensional groups.
8. Repeat the procedure for other inserts. After replacement of all inserts check freedom of rotation of a bent shaft. When checking bearings of the 1st cylinder weaken belts of the drive of auxiliary units to exclude uneven crush of a calibration wire (if the gap is checked without removal of the engine from the car).

Replacement of radical bearings



1. Remove and examine a bent shaft.
2. Remove radical bearings from beds in the block of cylinders and covers.
3. Oil new bearings for the engine, install them in the block of cylinders and in covers.
4. Establish a bent shaft (see below).



1. Uncover radical bearings (it is supposed that the oil pallet, the pump and candles are removed), get inserts from covers.
2. Take the top insert of the radical bearing as follows. Insert into the lubricant canal in a radical neck of a bent shaft the forelock with the bent ends. Turn a bent shaft clockwise (if to take a detached view a forward part) therefore the insert will go out of the block of cylinders.
3. Oil a new top insert pure for the engine and enter that edge of an insert at which there is no groove, between a bent shaft and the block of cylinders. Turn a bent shaft and establish an insert into place, be convinced that oil openings coincided. Get the forelock.
4. Grease the lower insert and establish in a cover. Correctly orient and put a cover into place.
5. Tighten bolts of fastening of a cover with the set moment.

Before an inhaling of bolts you will expose persistent half rings. Regrinding of necks of a bent shaft is carried out in a workshop of car service.

Installation of a bent shaft

1. The bent shaft is established after selection of inserts and check of gaps in radical bearings. Grease bearings, establish a bent shaft and covers of radical bearings.
2. Dip all bolts of covers into oil for the engine and tighten all bolts in the specified sequence except covers with persistent half rings (number of the corresponding cover is specified in the tab. Data of a bent shaft and rods).
3. Tighten bolts of covers with persistent half rings by hand. You will expose persistent half rings for what several times displace mount a bent shaft against the stop forward and record in this situation.
4. Establish necessary quantity of persistent half rings. Tighten the remained cover bolts with the set moment (1 – a persistent flange of a bent shaft on the average radical bearing; 2 – wooden block).
5. Check an axial side play of a bent shaft for what displace a bent shaft back against the stop, and then forward. The side play is measured by the probe in a forward part of the back radical bearing or on a persistent half ring.
6. Install a new epiploon in the block of cylinders and in a cover of the radical bearing. Continue assembly of the engine upside-down.
