GENERAL INFORMATION

Back integral epiploon of a bent shaft

Integral epiploon (is established on all engines except 4ZD1 and 4ZE1 on which the demountable two-section epiploon is established).


Prevention

For access to an epiploon on these engines it is not required to remove the oil pallet.


Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect the battery from weight. Lift the car. Establish on supports.
2. Merge oil from the engine, remove the oil pallet.
3. On cars with automatic transmission remove transmission. On cars remove the check point and coupling from the manual transmission assembled.
4. Remove a starter, without disconnecting conducting. Take a starter aside and fix.
5. Turn off bolts and remove a flywheel.
6. Carefully remove an epiploon, evenly hooking it the small screw-driver on diameter. Do not injure the neck condensed by an epiploon.
7. Fill space between working edges of a new epiploon jellied lubricant, oil working edges for the engine. Establish a new epiploon.
8. Establish a flywheel, transmission and a starter.
9. Connect the battery to weight. Start the engine, be convinced of lack of a leak.

TWO-SECTION EPIPLOON

Places of putting sealant on a demountable epiploon of a bent shaft

1 – cover of the 5th radical bearing

Both parts of an epiploon can be taken and replaced, without removing a bent shaft. The top and lower parts of an epiploon should be changed at the same time. Working edges of an epiploon have to be turned towards a forward part of the engine. At installation be careful not to damage the condensing roller in the channel on an external part of an epiploon. For protection of the roller it is recommended to use self-made adaptation.

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the oil pallet and a cover of the back radical bearing.
2. Get an epiploon from a back cover, having hooked it the sharp tool.
3. Get the lower part of an epiploon, having beaten out a small core so that it was possible to grasp with flat-nose pliers. At the same time do not damage the surface of a neck of a bent shaft.

Installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Clear a neck of a bent shaft and a cover of the radical bearing.
2. Grease edges of a new epiploon and the condensing roller with low-viscous oil so that oil did not get on the periphery of an epiploon.
3. Place suitable adaptation between a bent shaft and the place of landing of an epiploon.
4. Place an epiploon between the tool and a bent shaft so that the roller adjoined to the termination of adaptation. Edges of an epiploon have to be turned towards a forward part of the engine.
5. Move an epiploon on a neck of a bent shaft by means of adaptation which has to protect the roller from damage by sharp edges of a case of the engine.
6. Adaptation has to remain on the place until the epiploon does not reach the correct position, edges of an epiploon have to be aflush with the surface of the block of cylinders.
7. Remove adaptation.
8. Similarly establish the second half of an epiploon in a cover of the radical bearing. Draw in an epiploon a thumb and establish in the place.
9. Apply sealant on the demountable planes of the block of cylinders and a cover of the bearing and establish a cover. Sealant should not get on edges of an epiploon.
10. Tighten a cover of the radical bearing with the set moment.
11. Install the oil pallet, fill in oil. Start the engine, be convinced of lack of a leak.
