2.4.15. Check of level of oil or liquid

GENERAL INFORMATION

MECHANICAL TRANSMISSION

Oil level in mechanical transmission is checked every 12 months or 25000 km of a run.

Arrangement of traffic jams of drain and control openings on a transmission case

1 – a stopper of a control opening (for filling with oil and check of level)

2 – drain stopper

F – stopper of a filling opening

D – drain stopper

The check point case assembled with the transfer case, in a case of the transfer case oil is filled in (and merges from a case) separately.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Warm up the engine up to the normal working temperature, stop the engine. Lift the car and establish on supports. Turn off a stopper of a control opening which is sideways on a transmission case.
2. If oil begins to flow on a stopper, then level normal and further check is not required. Otherwise check level, having carefully pushed a finger in a control opening. Level has to be on bottom edge of an opening.
3. If necessary add oil to bottom edge of an opening.
4. Wrap a stopper with m 27 N.' moment.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

Oil level in automatic transmission is checked every 12 months or 25000 km of a run. The probe for check of level of liquid is in a back part of a motor compartment. Level is checked only on the transmission warmed up to the normal working temperature (after a trip around the highway approximately for 30 km).

In transmission like BW which are established on the Rodeo/Passport cars (with a wheel formula 4х2) by 1991 of release and further, only transmission Dexron II liquid is filled in.

Arrangement of traffic jams on a case of automatic transmission

F – stopper of a filling opening

D – drain stopper

The location of the probe is specified by an arrow.

Probe tags

The probe is identical to automatic transmissions of all types (assembled with the transfer case and without it).

C, H – probe tags (are specified by shooters)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Install the car on a plain surface. The engine has to idle.
2. Get the probe, wipe it with pure rags and again insert into place. Get the probe and determine the level which idling the engine has to be between the second risky and risky FULL HOT. If level is checked on cold transmission, then it has to be between the first and second risks.
3. If level is below the second risks (the engine is heated-up) or below the first risks (the engine cold), then add transmission liquid through a tube for the probe. Constantly check the level as transfusion of liquid is not allowed in order to avoid an overheat and breakages of transmission. It is forbidden to fill in other liquid, than Dexron II ATF.
4. Liquid on the probe has to be brightly red color. If color changed (on brown or black), or liquid exudes a burned smell, then it indicates malfunction of transmission and its overheat.
